What is LEED(R)?

LEED is the Leadership Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System(TM) created by the U.S. Green Building Council; it is the nationally recognized certification program for high performance green buildings. Are new buildings in NYC required to be LEED certified?
